ASA Earns Highest ACCME Highest Accreditation Status

The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) granted ASA its highest accreditation status,  “accreditation with commendation.” This elevated status extends ASA’s accreditation term from four to six years, making ASA an accredited CME provider until July 31, 2016.

ACCME accredits 689 national CME programs, and, of these, only 167, or 24 percent, have achieved the “accreditation with commendation” (six year) status. In July 2010, ACCME granted ASA a four-year accreditation, with the request that it submit a progress report in a year indicating compliance in a single area of concern. That report was submitted this past April resulting in the ACCME decision to grant the Society the higher status.
